Superman Returns...

I'll try and not reveal any spoilers (and there are a few doozies).. But just in case: don't read if you haven't seen the new movie or don't want to be spoiled.

First things First... THIS MOVIE ROCKS... GO SEE IT NOW AND THEN GO SEE IT AGAIN!!!!!!

It was the perfect continuation of the story in this god blessed CGI times. Visually it's wonderful, the flying looks great, the special effects are seamless, the costume is one of the best ever.

Brandon Routh, who I was a little nervous about, carried this film well. He is wonderfully dorky as Clark Kent in front of Lois, perfectly normal Clark with his mom (a nice nod to Smallville, I think) and down right commanding as Superman. He filled the screen (and the suit) in just the right way.

Now I am a huge fan of Smallville. I love the way Tom Welling portrays Clark Kent. This movie, while very different from that Clark, doesn't discount it either. Smallville's Clark is still a kid, one who doesn't understand who or what he is just yet. Superman Returns is who he will become. Which it makes it all the more fun to watch both.

And my god does it get any better than Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor???? This is why I love Kevin Spacey. He can portray humor in the most frightening way. You both want to laugh and run away because you KNOW this guys is freaking nuts. Charismatic and maniacal at the same time, which is why we love Lex.

The action was great, even if, for me, there were a few moments a little too reminiscent of 9/11 (visually not plot wise). But there was great tension, which in a superhero movie is a must. I need to worry a little bit if they are going to be able to save the day.

The story has some great twists in it. One of which I called months ago but none of my male friends (including my husband) believed me... Lets just say the story is set up for some very interesting conflicts and challenges if the movies continue.

And no I still don't see how every one in the world can't figure out Clark Kent vs Superman because of some glasses... though I think one character in the movie has figured it out and just doesn't say anything...

okay I'll stop yapping now... Just please go see this movie.. You won't be sorry you spent the 8.00!!
